Peace ‘n Justice Community Walk

The North Oakland Restorative Justice Council hosts a community walk on the 2nd Friday of every month called the “Peace ‘n Justice” walk.

A summary of past Peace ‘n Justice walks is below:

  • On April 11th, alongside Bethany Baptist Church, Memorial Tabernacle Church , 10Y NCPC chair, as well Temescal Security Alternatives, we walked to 43rd and Market to speak about the recent community violence that took the life of Shamarr Owens, a 27 year old man from Emeryville. With permission from his family we hosted a community circle and dialogue around the violence; the conversation included many of his friends and surrounding neighbors.  In addition, The North Oakland Restorative Justice Council raised $100 at the event to offer to the family and is currently working with Shamarr’s mother to plan another event, including a memorial fruit tree planting and community healing BBQ.
